A naked woman with webbed toes who claimed to be a mermaid called ‘Joanna’ was found wandering near a lake in Friant, California.
The woman who seem confused about her identity told police operatives that she had been in the water and needed help at a hospital.
According to spokesman for the Fresno Police Department, Lt. Mark Hudson, the lady cannot identify herself as she replies ‘I don’t know’ to most questions asked.
Lt. Mark Hudson said: “She was wet, she said she had been in the lake, said she needed help and needed to be taken to the hospital.
“She was mostly naked, her hair was wet because she had been in the water and claimed to be a mermaid called “Joanna.”
“We did go through records after fingerprinting her and we still did not come up with her identity.”
The police has issued a photograph of the woman carrying a name ‘Jane Doe’ in a bid to trace her identity after her fingerprints tested negative for identification.
She was described as being 5ft 4in tall, with brown eyes and brown hair, weighing around 150 pounds and as having webbed feet.
A Local resident, Karon Renwick, while reacting to the incident, said a lot of strange things happen in the area.
“There are some strange things that happen up here.
“We’re in the mountains,” Renwick said.
