An Afriqiyah Airways flight has landed in Malta after apparently being hijacked.
The Libyan passenger aircraft, with 118 people onboard, was on an internal flight to Tripoli when it was diverted, according to reports.
The prime minister of Malta Joseph Muscat tweeted that he had been informed of a "potential hijack situation" involving an internal Libyan flight diverted to Malta.
Malta airport says the plane from Libya has landed and it appears two hijackers are on board.
Airport officials said emergency teams had been sent to the site of what they described as "unlawful interference".
Media reports say the hijackers have threatened to blow up the Airbus A320 plane.
