Nigeria - A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Maitama, Abuja, on Wednesday adjourned till January 25, 2017, the trial of the immediate past National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd), and his co-accused persons on charges bordering on diversion of funds meant for procurement of arms.
The proceedings could not go on as scheduled on Wednesday because one of the defendants, Mr. Salisu Shuaibu, who was the former Director of Finance and Account of the office of the NSA, while Dasuki was the helmsman of the office, was not present in court.
Shuaibu was said to be on hospital admission.
There are two separate sets of charges relating to the alleged diversion of the arms fund before Justice Baba Yusuf.
One of the cases was only recently transferred from another judge in the court, Justice Peter Affen, to Justice Yusuf’s court.
Dasuki and the accused persons involved in the newly transferred cases were supposed to be re-arraigned on Wednesday.
This was however stalled due to Shuaibu’s absence and the matter was subsequently adjourned till January 25, 2017.
