Former US president and Republican George Bush Snr is planning to vote for Democrat Hillary Clinton in November's election, according to reports.
Ex-Maryland Lieutenant Governor Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, John F Kennedy's niece, posted a picture of herself with Mr Bush on Facebook on Monday.
She added the caption: "The president told me he's voting for Hillary!"
The picture was not publicly available but she later confirmed her conversation with Mr Bush to Politico, which shared a screengrab of the Facebook post.
Mr Bush has never publicly offered support for the Republican Party's presidential candidate Donald Trump.
Mr Trump defeated Mr Bush's son Jeb during the Republican primaries.
Mr Bush's spokesman Jim McGrath said that the former president is not commenting on the presidential race.
He added that the 92-year-old's vote is private.
Later, he tweeted that it was "not clear anyone was there to verify" the conversation and that he was "still checking".
