The two coaches were the protagonists in a series of fierce encounters while at Clasico giants Barcelona and Real Madrid, before moving on within a year of each other.
But while Pep is gearing up to take over at Manchester City at the end of the current campaign following a trophy-laden spell at Bayern Munich, Mourinho is still in the dark over his future.
"He knows where he will be going and I don't. It is not worth imaging any scenarios because Guardiola has a new club and I don't," the Portuguese trainer told reporters on Friday.
One potential destination is Manchester United, leaving open the possibility of the pair once more becoming derby rivals.
"I don't want to say anything about that," Mourinho answered when questioned on the Old Trafford links.
"There are thousands of possible scenarios, some real and others less so. One thing I do when I am not working is that I read everything, unlike when I am working because I do not look at a single word in the press.
"It is so easy to invent, lie and take things out of context. It is the world in which we live and we have to adapt.
"What I can guarantee is that when I start work I will be going back to the old rule, and will not read anything."
