The Independent claim that the former Chelsea boss wrote a six-page letter to United which detailed the changes he would make and his desire to adhere to the club's principles
Jorge Mendes has strongly denied a report claiming that Jose Mourinho sent a letter to Manchester United in a bid to become the next manager at Old Trafford.
The Independent has claimed that the former Chelsea manager sent a six-page letter to United which detailed his plans for the side, his key decisions and highlighted his desire to adhere to the club’s principles.
The report came after United sunk to a 1-0 defeat at home to Southampton on Saturday, leaving the club 10 points behind league leaders Leicester City and Louis van Gaal’s future in doubt.
But Mendes, via his agency Gestifute, has branded the report as “totally absurd”.
"It does not occur to anyone that a coach like Jose Mourinho can write letters to clubs offering their services," he said.
“It is absolutely ridiculous and totally absurd."
