NEWS NIGERIA: TERRORISM - Nigeria Air Force Destroys Several Boko Haram Facilities
The Nigerian Air Force claimed responsibility for the destruction of a Boko Haram vehicle workshop and a weapon storage factory located in the Boko Haram stronghold of the Sambisa forest.
Speaking to the press in Maiduguri the Air Component Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Commodore Isiaka Amao, claimed that his command undertook 40 missions with an 80% success rate.
He noted that these missions caused the destruction of two militant camps and a motor workshop, as well as the general degradation of the logistical ability of Boko Haram. The Commodore also assured the press that the missions would not end until Boko Haram’s capacity was fully degraded.
In addition, the Commodore Amao claimed successful missions in the towns of Kunshe, Mafa, Ngala, Geidam, Gamboru, Kirenowa, and Banki. The Commodore did note one casualty, “On a sad note we lost a colleague, Flight Lt. Ebitimi Owei, and a platform during one of the missions. May his gentle soul rest in peace,”he said.
However, Commodore Amao stressed that the loss of Flight Lt. Owei would not hurt the morale of his officers or deter their mission.
