North Korea has warned America to end its "military hysteria" or face retaliation - as a US strike group, including an aircraft carrier, steams towards the region.

Pyongyang issued the warning as it displayed new submarine-based ballistic missiles in a massive military parade in the city.

The reclusive state said it was prepared to respond to any attacks with "nuclear attacks of our own style", as tension mounted in the region.

El Rufai affirms: No regret or apologies for saying Buhari has failed

Nigeria - The Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, on Friday said he has no regret or apologies for writing the leaked memo which berated the President Muhammadu Buhari’s Federal Government.

Recall that El-Rufai had in his memo declared that both Buhari and the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, had failed Nigerians.

Addressing State House Correspondents after joining the President for the Juma’at prayer at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, the governor asserted that the memo was leaked to the public from the Villa.

Oh so sad! Professor and 5 others killed in road crashes in notorious Abakaliki road

Nigeria - The Dean, School of Basic Medical Sciences at the Federal University, Ndufu-Alike Ebonyi, Prof. Robert Nneli is dead.

He died in one of the two accidents recorded Thursday night at the notorious 131 junction of the Abakaliki-Enugu federal highway.

Nneli, 69 years old, joined the University in 2012 after spending close to 20 years at Abia State University.

Edo Tribunal: Oshiomhole makes mockery of PDP; Ize-Iyamu filed ‘mama akara busy body’ petition

Nigeria - Former Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, has mocked the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, over its loss at the tribunal.

Reacting, Oshiomhole described the petition by the PDP and its candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, as “mama akara busy body”

His words, “The PDP has no case, Pastor Ize-Iyamu has no case. The reason we have people going to court for no reason is because there is no cost.

Oh my word! In England, Heroin linked to four deaths in 24 hours

The unexplained deaths of four people in less than 24 hours may be related to heroin, police believe.

Three of the deaths were reported on Friday morning and a fourth was reported on Friday evening, all in South Yorkshire.

Two men, 33 and 40, were found dead at two different addresses in Barnsley and a 47-year-old woman was found at a house in Grimethorpe.

Nigeria - An aide to Transport Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, David Iyofor has described former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode as a “mad man” in need of help for linking the Minister to the $43m the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, uncovered in a property in Ikoyi, Lagos State.

Following the discovery of the huge sum, Fani-Kayode, a Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had claimed that the property housing the money was owned by Amaechi.

Nigeria - A man whose identity has been shielded by a local church in Makurdi, has shocked church members with a tithe offering of N42 million.

Investigations by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Makurdi revealed that the money was paid into the UBA account of the NKST Church High Level  Makurdi.

Sadly, more deaths as Meningitis kills 33 in Niger State

Nigeria - Thirty-three people have died from the Cerebrol Spinal Meningitis (CSM) in Niger state out of 116 suspected cases recorded, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported Friday.

The agency quoting Yahaya Na’uzo, executive director of the state Primary Health Care Development Agency (SPCDA), said nine persons died from the type C meningitis while the remaining 24 died of the type A and B since the outbreak of the disease.

Suspected Kurdish militant attack kills two in Turkey's southeast

A Turkish soldier and a guard were killed by a roadside bomb in the southeastern city of Van, military sources said on Friday, adding that an aerial operation was underway against the suspected Kurdish militant attackers.

An explosion hit Turkish security forces carrying out reconnaissance along a road in Van, the sources said. Initial reports pointed to an explosive device planted by members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), they said.

Lagos, Nigeria - A bike rider and his passenger were left seriously injured after crashing into a parked bus, this afternoon, on the 3rd Mainland Bridge.

According to the report, the bus driver said his bus was not firing well so he parked and brought out his spare tyre and engine cover as caution sign for in coming vehicles.

The strike on Thursday hit an Islamic State mountain hideouts in a remote area of Nangarhar province, in eastern Afghanistan near the Pakistan border.

It was the first time the US military unleashed the GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast bomb, its largest non-nuclear bomb.
