Nigeria - President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday summoned the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, over the $16bn eastern rail project and others.

Addressing State House correspondents later, Amaechi admitted that there were "issues around the transport" that he had to discuss with the president."

Operatives of the Nigerian Navy (NN) attached to the Operation Awatse yesterday busted a Lagos hotel where Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) is siphoned from the pipeline of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

The operatives also arrested eight suspects including a Police Inspector at the premises of Glonik Hotel at 31, Social Club Road, Abule Egba.

A woman, Regina Johnson who shot her 14-year-old daughter and her husband in their San Carlos condominium, then stayed with the bodies for three days before reporting the deaths, was convicted Tuesday of two counts of second- degree murder.

After deliberating over parts of three days, jurors found 60-year-old Regina Johnson guilty on May 30, 2012, deaths of Aaliyah Johnson and Reuben Johnson. The jury also found true allegations that the defendant intentionally and personally discharged a firearm, Fox5 Reported.

Turkish coup plotters sentenced to life in prison

A Turkish court on Wednesday handed life sentences to 34 people for plotting to assassinate President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at a luxury Aegean hotel during last year's failed coup.

Nigeria - A member of a robbery gang, Wasiu Ganiu, that shot the Divisional Police Officer of Ogbere Division has expressed joy that he was not cut down in a  gale of bullets during a gun duel between his gang and Operatives of the Federal Special Anti – Robbery Squad (FSARS), Ogun State.

The DPO of  Ogbere Division was shot at close range last September 13 when members of Wasiu’s robbery gang ambushed him and his team. They also stole the DPO’s AK 47 rifle.
