Alas! Health minister disguises to investigate corruption in hospital, the result will shock you

Uganda’s health minister disguised herself as a patient and caught two medical workers demanding a bribe for free government services, she told AFP on Saturday.

Health Minister Sarah Opendi said she wore a face veil and travelled to a hospital in the capital Kampala on a boda-boda (motorbike taxi) to disguise her identity.

Okorocha blasts Nnamdi Kanu and those politicising his activities: He is on his own

Nigeria - Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, yesterday urged the Federal Government and citizens to treat the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, as an individual whose views do not represent those  of the generality of  Igbo.

No reasonable Igbo man, the governor said, “would support secession or division of the country.” Okorocha who spoke at the new Yam festival organised by the State Council of Traditional Rulers said that “everyone that loves Ndigbo has condemned the activities of IPOB.”

Nigeria - The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) may call off its one-month old strike this week.

Its president, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, told our correspondent on phone the union has not called off the strike because it was still ironing out some grey areas in the agreement with federal government.

Nigeria - Imminent trouble as Nigerian troops yesterday launched a manhunt for Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader Nnamdi Kanu , barely 24 hours after the group’s proscription.

Nothing has been heard about Kanu since the proscription. Some sources yesterday said he had gone underground.

Dozens of Burundi refugees killed in clashes with DR Congo forces

At least 36 Burundian refugees have been killed in clashes with Congolese security forces who allegedly fired indiscriminately at protesters, the United Nations envoy to Congo said Saturday.

Maman Sidikou said he was "deeply shocked" at the violence. Another 117 people were wounded and one Congolese officer was killed, he said in a statement. Thirty-nine gravely wounded Burundian refugees were evacuated by helicopter to the city of Bukavu, the UN peacekeeping mission in Congo said.

REVEALED! Nigerian Army did not attack IPOB members first last sunday, Governors justify ban on IPOB activities

The Chairman of the South-east Governors Forum and Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, said yesterday that the forum decided to ban the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to arrest the situation in the region from escalating. 

Mr. Umahi, who briefed journalists in his office in Abakaliki, said the leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, was gradually losing control of the situation and his members, prompting the governors to wade in to prevent further bloodshed. He said the proscription had achieved the desired result.
