Nigeria - The General Overseers of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye; The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM), Bishop Mike Okonkwo; Living Faith Church, Bishop David Oyedepo; Deeper Life Church, Pastor W.F Kumuyi among others, have ordered Christian students across the country not to attend classes Arabic Studies.

This comes amid reports that the subject has been made compulsory in schools.

Nigeria - Olukoya Ogungbede, a lawyer to kidnap kingpin, Evans, has lost a case he filed on behalf two Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, detainees in Federal High Court in Lagos state.

Ogungbeje was defeated on Friday, when Justice Ibrahim Buba dismissed the two fundamental rights applications.

Oh gracious! Sad one as 13 killed in bus crash in Russia

Thirteen people died, two of them children, when a long-haul passenger bus collided with a truck in Russia on Sunday, authorities said.

The bus was travelling from Samara on the Volga river to Izhevsk, around 900 kilometres (550 miles) east of Moscow, when the accident happened, the Investigative Committee, which probes accidents and disasters, said.

UPDATED: Bloodshed after 18 killed as car bombers strike Damascus

A suicide car bomber pursued by security forces blew himself up in eastern Damascus on Sunday, with a monitor reporting 18 killed in the deadliest attack to hit the Syrian capital in months.

Syrian state media and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group said security forces intercepted three car bombers on their way into the city early on Sunday morning.

Ex-VP Namadi Sambo cries out: Raid on my house was a set up

Nigeria - Former vice president, Namadi Sambo, said yesterday that there are plans by security agents to set him up.

Sambo, who was reacting to the recent raid on his home, said the frequency “exposes plans to plant incriminating items in the house”.

The house of the former vice president in Kaduna was searched by security agents including the police, DSS and ICPC last Wednesday.

Absolutely Shocking! Boko Haram fighters found posing as refugees

Nigeria - Boko Haram fighters have been found among refugees returning to northeast Nigeria from neighbouring Cameroon, the Borno State Emergency Management Agency said on Saturday.

“At least nine Boko Haram insurgents and 100 accomplices were identified among 920 Nigerian refugees who returned from Marwa in Cameroon on Wednesday,” the agency’s head, Ahmed Satomi told AFP.

Nigerian Abiola emerges best medicine graduate shines in Ukraine University

Dr. Lateefat Oyeleye Abiola, the  best graduating medical student at V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University in Ukraine, was on top of the world 30 June, as she delivered the valedictory speech.

Abiola who was a student of Osun State University was sponsored to the Ukrainian university by the government of Governor  Rauf Aregbesola, to complete her studies.
