Nigeria - Former First Lady of Nigeria, Patience Jonathan has struck a deal to release her 200-bed hotel as a Coronavirus Isolation and treatment centre.

Abuja High Court unfrezees Patience Jonathan’s 16 accounts

Nigeria - Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja has lifted an order made on May 30, freezing 16 bank accounts linked to wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience.

Justice Nyako in a ruling yesterday ordered the lifting of the freezing order that barred Mrs. Jonathan and 10 organizations linked to her from accessing the accounts containing aggregate sums of $5.8million and N3.5billion.

Patience Jonathan Asks Court To Unfreeze 16 Bank Accounts

Nigeria - Wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience, yesterday, asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to vacate the interim forfeiture order it granted to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on May 30, to freeze her 16 separate bank accounts containing aggregate sums of $5.8 million and N3.5 billion.

Mrs. Jonathan, through her team of lawyers led by Chief I.A. Adedipe, SAN, and Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, maintained that the court order had elapsed and could not be extended by the EFCC.

Dudafa is standing trial alongside Joseph Iwuejo, his ex-account officer, who allegedly aided him to perpetuate the fraud.

Nigeria - Justice John Tsoho of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday fixed Nov. 16 to hear the N2 billion Fundamental Rights suit brought against the EFCC by Mrs Patience Jonathan.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the wife of the former president Goodluck Jonathan had filed the suit in June to challenge her alleged incessant harassment by the anti-graft commission.

Accusing Magu of being bent on destroying her family, the former president’s wife said she believes that she is being targeted for the role she played in the 2015 election, according to a report by The Cable.

EFCC traces Abuja posh assets to Patience Jonathan

Nigeria - Two more assets have been traced to former First Lady Patience Jonathan, who is being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged money laundering.

The latest development has brought the number of Mrs. Jonathan’s assets  under investigation to 15.

Nigeria - Patience, the wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan, has reportedly ‘recovered’ her N2bn hotel which was earlier shutdown by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in June.

The anti-graft agency had in June placed the red inscriptions, ‘EFCC Under Investigation’ all over the hotel which is located near Setraco Construction Company, off the Mabushi Kado Expressway.

The Nation reports that Shagaya’s relationship with about 10 firms/account names are also being investigated by the anti-graft agency.

Nigeria - An application filed by a former First Lady, Patience Jonathan, seeking a declaration that she owns the sum of $9.8m domiciled in Skye Bank was rejected by a Federal High court in Ikoyi, Lagos today.

The former First Lady, through her lawyer, I.A. Adedipe, SAN, had filed an application by way of amended originating summons dated December 15, 2016, seeking a declaration that she is the owner of the money. She also said she is entitled to access the funds without hindrance.

ALAS! EFCC blocks former Nigerian First Lady Patience Jonathan at Skye Bank

Former Nigerian First Lady, Patience Jonathan,  on Monday visited the Maitama branch of the   Skyebank in Abuja to withdraw part of her $5.9million recently unfrozen by a Lagos High Court.

But she met a brickwall.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had procured a stay-of-execution of  the judgement and also simultaneously filed an appeal against the judgment given last week on 6 April by Justice Mojisola Olatoregun.

Patience Jonathan visits Skye Bank days after court unfroze her account

Nigeria - Former First Lady, Patience Jonathan on Monday visited the Maitama branch of the Skye Bank in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

Her visit was less than one week after her 6 million dollars was recently unfrozen by a court order.

Patience Jonathan was at the bank until 4pm but declined to speak to reporters who approached her.

Court unfreezes Patience Jonathan’s account

Nigeria - A Federal High Court in Lagos on Thursday issued an order unfreezing the Skye Bank account of a former First Lady, Patience Jonathan.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had in November 2016, filed an application before the court, seeking an order freezing the account.

The commission had contended that the funds were reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime. The account is said to harbour the sum of 5.8 million dollars.

Former first lady, Patience Jonathan has filed another laswuit against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC for the invasion of her property in Abuja.

The case which commenced at the Federal High Court, Port Harcourt, today - 20th of February, 2017 was stalled due to the late response of the EFCC counsel.
