Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC), Ibrahim Magus has said that the fear of the agency has prevented many serving state governors from organising flamboyant parties within and outside Nigeria.
Magu made the statement when he paid a visit to the commission’s zonal office in Makurdi, Benue State on Monday October 7th.
“EFCC is all eyes and ears, wherever and whenever they organise such ostentatious parties, they will be fished out and prosecuted, be it within or outside the country.” he said
The chairman of the antigraft agency added that the commission would not relent in its efforts at curbing the excesses of Nigerian politicians.
Addressing allegations his office is being used for political vendetta, Magu said
''I don’t care who you are, where you come from. The political inclination is not an issue, so there is no question of identifying the chairman of a political party under investigation.“If you are corrupt, I’ll go after you. You can see the two governors who were convicted were APC governors. There is no doubt about that. If you are corrupt, we usually conduct a very thorough preliminary investigation before we go after you, that’s why if you are invited by EFCC, there must be something. I think the fear factor is helping a lot''.
