YouTube has removed more than 100,000 videos and 17,000 channels for hate speech since launching a crackdown earlier this summer.
The Google-owned video platform has been providing regular updates on how its tougher stance on harmful content is having an impact, and says it is culling such material at a faster rate than ever before.
The number of offending channels and videos taken down has increased fivefold - and the tech giant has also "nearly doubled" its removal of inappropriate comments, deleting more than 500 million.
In a blog post, YouTube said the spike was due to the deletion of older videos, channels and comments that had been permitted before its hate speech policy was updated in June.
Teams of people and an artificial intelligence-powered flagging tool are being used to tackle offensive content - with AI helping to identify inappropriate videos before they attract many views.
YouTube said nearly 30,000 videos had been pulled for hate speech in the past month - and in total, they only had 3% of the views that clips about knitting had enjoyed over the same period of time.
The company said machine-learning technology had proven useful in identifying patterns and taking down content, but admitted it was not a perfect solution because issues like hate speech are "highly dependent on context".
