Ba’liman told Daily Post that some of the people attacked had fled to the Cameroon side, while few of them returned to the camp and were being treated by doctors at the Rann Camp.
He said the attackers met the IDPs on the farm at about 10:00am contrary to earlier reports that the IDPs were returning from their farm.
“We were told earlier that they were returning from the farm when it happened but those who survived the attack said they were actually attacked on their farms.
“Many people are yet to be accounted for, but the soldiers have released 9 corpses, which we buried this morning,” the Chief Imam said.
Meanwhile, relatives of some of the returnee IDPs who are still in Maiduguri revealed that there was fear that many people may have been killed in the attack, as only few people returned to the camp in Rann with gunshots and dagger wounds on their body.
One of the family members, Modu Gaji said that the military repelled the attacks and evacuated the corpses, but did not release them to families.
