Nigeria - President Muhammadu Buhari never planned a US trip to Washington, DC slated for today Monday, September 4, 2017 according to official Presidential media.
Saharareporters had exclusively reported that Mr. Buhari's trip to the US was at the invitation of President Donald Trump, with a Nigerian Presidency source telling her correspondent that Mr. Trump extended the invitation last February, shortly after his inauguration.
An itinerary seen by SaharaReporters had stated Mr. Buhari was scheduled to leave his hometown, Daura, by helicopter at 9:15 am on Monday for Katsina airport.
From the airport, he was then to fly out at 10 am aboard a presidential jet to Washington, DC.
Several hours after Saharareporters broke the story, media aides began denying the report on twitter even as our sources insisted they were on standby for the trip.
Later in the day, the minister of Information, Lai Mohammed issued a statement saying that the informed was circulated through a parody twitter account using his name.
