Russian agents shoot dead two terror suspects in Moscow

Russian police officers patrol at Prospekt Mira metro station on April 4, 2017 in Moscow, as security measures are tightened following the blast in the St Petersburg metro

Security services have shot dead two men suspected of planning terror attacks in Russia.
The FSB said the suspects were killed in a shootout which broke out when they resisted arrest at a home in the Vladimir region in the east of Moscow.
In a statement they said the two men were in contact with recruiters from international terror organisations and had shown an interest in making bombs as well as a readiness to carry out attacks in Russia.

Authorities said the two men were both from Central Asia, but did not say which country they were from.
The suicide bomber responsible for the St Petersburg metro blastearlier this month in which 14 people were killed was from Kyrgyzstan.
The country is one of several former Soviet republics in Central Asia that are seen as fertile recruiting grounds for Islamic extremists due to their predominantly Muslim population and poverty.
FSB director Alexander Bortnikov said last week that the agency had prevented 16 terror attacks in Russian cities during 2016.
He said many of them had involved migrant workers from other parts of the former Soviet Union.
An FSB broadcast on state television showed the bodies of the two men after the shootout, including one with a Kalashnikov automatic rifle next to him.
The video also showed a number of items which were described as being the components needed to make explosives.
