
A scuba driver who fainted in the water during a civic ceremony in Karamursel, north-western Turkey's Koceli Province to mark the anniversary of a ferry disaster, was saved by the town's mayor, Ismail Yildirim.
The lady whose name was given as Senay Ertorun, fainted and was having breathing difficulties which was spotted on time by the mayor, as the two divers were in the sea to place a wreath in the water, in tribute to the 272 people who lost their lives in the Uskudar Disaster of 1958.

The mayor who is also a professional diver, removed his shoes, tie and jacket, and dived into the water with his shirt and trouser, pulling the woman to the shore as he swam to her. This earned him an applause, as Ms Ertorun was given all the medical attention she needed at the scene.
