Oh dear! Teenage boy badly hurt after shark attack off Australian coast

Hinchinbrook boat ramp in Cardwell

A teenager has serious leg injuries and is in critical condition after a shark attack in the far north of Queensland.
The 19-year-old man was attacked while spear-fishing off Point Hinchinbrook boat ramp in the Australian town of Cardwell at about 10.30am local time on Saturday.

A spokeswoman for the Queensland Ambulance Service told ABC that the man was in a critical condition.
He has severe blood loss with multiple bites to his upper and lower leg, she added.
The circumstances of the attack are not clear, but Nine News reported that he was on a boat around 20 metres from the shore when the ambulance was called.
A rescue helicopter was sent from Cairns and the man was taken to hospital.
It is believed the teenager was bitten by a bull shark or tiger shark.
