Five people are confirmed to have died after a tram came off rails in south London.

The two-car vehicle tipped over as it went into a tunnel near the Sandilands tram stop, east Croydon.

A British Transport Police statement said: "We continue to work alongside our partners at the scene of a major incident in Croydon.
"We were called at 6.13am this morning after a tram derailed near Sandilands tram stop.
"At present, we can confirm five people have sadly died following this incident.
"Officers are continuing to work at the scene and Rail Accident Investigation Bureau are investigating the cause of the derailment.
"One person has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently in police custody."
The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said "foul play" had been ruled out but the investigation into what caused it was ongoing.
He said: "Fifty-one people have been taken to hospital - St Georges in Tooting and Croydon university hospital. The bad news is there are fatalities - a number of people have lost their lives."
Croydon resident Hannah Collier, 23, said: "I heard a massive crash... then heard shouting, then the emergency services arrived.
"They started bringing up the casualties, some very seriously injured. People were carried away on stretchers."
Sky News field producer Adam Parker, who is at the scene, said: "From where I am I can see two green trams stood stationary at Sandilands station. Both are empty and the station is deserted.
