Wow! Michael Sheen puts acting on hold... for politics

One of Britain's leading actors, famous for his roles as Tony Blair, David Frost and Brian Clough, is putting his career on hold.
Rather than treading the boards or appearing on the silver screen, Michael Sheen wants to focus his efforts on politics - specifically, fighting against the rise of the far-right.

"In the same way as the Nazis had to be stopped in Germany in the 1930s, this thing that is on the rise has to be stopped," he said.
Following in the footsteps of comedian Eddie Izzard and actress Glenda Jackson, he describes his decision to take his activism to the next level as a "natural progression".
Earlier this year, Sheen - who was born in Port Talbot in South Wales - took part in a march in the Valleys town of Tredegar to remember NHS founder Aneurin Bevan.
Delivering a rousing speech, for which he was lauded, he quoted Mr Bevan.
"Do we want to be a society where each person is recognised? Where all are equal in worth and value? And where that value is not purely a monetary one. A society that is supportive, that is inclusive and compassionate," he said.
And he went on to challenge "disconnected" politicians to "by God, believe in something".
Speaking to this weekend's The Times Magazine about his change of path, he said: "It will be a big change for how people relate to me.
"Once I'm in, I'm fully in, and this is big. As soon as you start to be effective, then people try to crush you, because it's dangerous."
Sheen says he will not be acting "for the time being" because Brexit and the election of Donald Trump has added "massive urgency" to the need for change.
