The coastguard says a cargo ship is in trouble and taking on water off Dover as Storm Angus sweeps across southern England.
At least five of the crew were taken off the 200m-long Saga Sky after it got into difficulty, the Maritime and Coastguard agency said.
Up to 2,000 properties in Devon and elsewhere in the south west of the country are without power after high winds and heavy rain battered the coast.
