Two wealthy Qatari women have been tear gassed and robbed of valuables worth at least €5m (£4.3m) while on a motorway north of Paris.
The women, reportedly sisters aged in their 60s, had just left Le Bourget airport with their driver on Monday evening when their Bentley was held up by two masked men.
After a chase, the three were forced to park at a service station along the road, according to French digital TV station BFMTV.
The men sprayed all three with tear gas before stealing items from the car including jewellery, clothing and luggage.
The A1, near the airport, is well known for hold-ups, with robbers using the traffic jams as an opportunity to pounce on their victims.
They tend to target rich foreigners in expensive cars in the hope that they are carrying large amounts of cash.
Last month the chief executive of a French furniture chain was in a taxi that was held up after leaving Le Bourget, the three robbers stealing an estimated €100,000 (£85,000) in valuables.
In 2015, a Korean art collector had €4m (£3.4m) of jewels stolen from her car by three attackers.
About a year before that, a Saudi Arabian prince's convoy was attacked by a gang of eight robbers in two BMWs between the airport and central Paris.
More recently, within the French capital itself, reality TV star Kim Kardashian was tied up and robbed at gunpoint of £8m worth of jewellery by masked men at a luxury residence she was staying at during Paris Fashion Week.
Earlier this month, Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat was punched and sprayed with tear gas, as she and her partner were ambushed by three masked attackers in the lobby of an apartment where they were staying in the city.
