Jose Mourinho has said he wants to be "aggressive" and to win "everything" in his first news conference as Manchester United manager.
Mourinho told journalists he felt "very well prepared" for the new role but admitted his frustration that the club will not be competing in the Champions League this season.
He said he wanted to "forget" the club's largely unsuccessful last three years under David Moyes and Louis Van Gaal.
Mourinho told reporters: "The reality is I think it is a job every one wants and not many have a chance."
"I will never be able to work without success, that is my nature ... I want to be aggressive - we want to win."
The Portuguese coach also said it was "not his fault" that Ryan Giggs had left the club after 29 years.
He praised Giggs for his "brave" decision to seek a new challenge away from Old Trafford and said he would "never stop him coming back".
The 53-year-old former Chelsea boss was speaking to the media for the first time since his appointment in May.
