FOOTBALL: Guess who is backing Jose Mourinho from the Chelsea staff - says 'Abramovich knows Mourinho is the right man for Chelsea'
Stamford Bridge's technical director Michael Emenalo says the Russian owner "has the whole picture" of the club's current situation
Chelsea’s technical director Michael Emenalo insists Jose Mourinho has the full backing from Roman Abramovich.
The Premier League champions currently sit 16th in the Premier League having suffered seven defeats in their opening 12 games.
Mourinho has already been given the public support by Chelsea but Emenalo, who is one of Abramovich’s closest allies at Stamford Bridge, insists the Russian billionaire “has the whole picture” of the current situation at the club.
“When it comes to decisions, we feel confident we have an owner who has a very good track record, who is astute at making decisions of this kind at the right time to get us to where we want to be,” Emenalo said in an interview with The Daily Telegraph.
“We have never put ourselves in a position where we second-guess him. Part of the reasons he can make those decisions and be successful is because he has the information that a lot of people don’t.
“He has the whole picture of what is happening at the club, not just from certain individuals but every sector of the club. When he needs to make a decision he can make it.
“Right now, the statement from the owner and from the board comes from a belief that we are in a position to trust a manager who has delivered so much. We are in a position to trust a group of players who have delivered in the last couple of seasons. We are in a position to see that there is light at the end of the tunnel and therein lies our confidence, that we can get out of the situation.”
Emenalo also insists Abramovich “cares deeply” about Chelsea’s current predicament and claims he goes through the same emotions as a supporter.
“He is deeply, deeply passionate about football and about English football and this club,” said Emenalo.
“It means everything to him and that is why he makes the investment and wherever he is, he finds a way to watch matches. He cares deeply, so when things aren’t going well it affects him in the same way it affects a fan.
“Right now what is he thinking? He is feeling like the rest of us who are fans. More so. He is feeling that his precious club that he supports is not doing well.
“I think he goes through the varied emotions of ‘how can I help?’ and ‘what is going wrong?’ He is definitely looking forward to the club getting into a winning groove again. More importantly he wants to make sure that we don’t lose what we have achieved in the last 10 years, which has earned the respect of the football fraternity.”

FOOTBALL: "Jose Mourinho has been treated unfairly by Chelsea' - Emenalo
The Portuguese manager has received punishments for his outspoken manner in front of reporters this season, and a club director recognised he needs help with the press.
A key aide of Roman Abramovich has affirmed that there is concern over Jose Mourinho's press outbursts, while admitting Chelsea should have taken some responsibility in the matter.
The Portuguese manager has received a string of punishments for controversial statements this season.
And while club technical director Michael Emenalo criticised his outspoken manner, he added that Chelsea also had to face up to club disciplinary matters.
“As one of the big football clubs in the world, we understand that we have a responsibility to greater society and the football world,” Emenalo told the Daily Telegraph.
“To represent ourselves with a certain responsibility and [Abramovich] takes that very, very seriously. He demands that we must behave in a way that justifies our elevated status.
"That is important to him, I can assure you that from having a knowledge of his feelings. We definitely make an effort as well as any club to make sure the club is represented very well. That is what he wants."
Emenalo continued by suggesting that Chelsea directors and management had a responsibility to support their manager when facing up to the press.
“It can be unwanted attention but it is also couched in circumstances that are unfair to Jose," he explained.
“We have to be capable and honest enough to say that Jose has had unfair responsibility in dealing with reporters.
“Maybe we have to find a better way to help him, to work with him, a better way within the hierarchy, myself, the chairman [Bruce Buck] in presenting our case, when we feel that something hasn’t gone the way we expect it to.
"Because Jose is the one who goes out to meet the press immediately after games, which can be difficult – not just for Jose but any manager in the Premier League [who has] to go out and always be reasonable.
"We recognise that and we have to find a way to help him out in those situations."

NEWS NIGERIA: 18,000 MINIMUM WAGE - Nigerian Governors say they can no longer pay workers the wage.
The 36 state governors at a meeting yesterday, at the Old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja under the umbrella of Nigerian Governors Forum, NGF, said that dwindling prices of oil has affected their states income thereby making it difficult to pay the N18,000 minimum wage that was signed into law in March 2011 by former President Goodluck Jonathan.
However, the Labour Union rejected the Gov's stance saying that workers will shut down the Govt if the Governors don't pay the minimum wage. The factional president of the NLC Ayuba Wabba said the Govs salaries were ridiculously high asking them to declare salaries their as approved by the Revenue and Fiscal Mobilisation Commission, that of their commissioners, advisers and others, their security votes and others. He also asked about the bloated overhead cost, inflated contracts by the Govs.
The Governors said it was easier to pay the minimum wage when oil sold at $126 as against the current $41 per barrel.
They, therefore, advised the President to diversify the economy towards agriculture and mining and any other lucrative source of income to improve the nation's economy.
Reading the communique issued at the end of the meeting, Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari said:
“We resolved that we must look at ways to enhance revenue generation and at the same time look at ways to cut our overhead costs, especially the political office holders’ salaries and other overhead expenses.
“The situation is no longer the same when we were asked to pay N18,000 minimum wage, when oil price was $126 (per barrel) and we continued paying N18,000 minimum wage when the oil price is $41, while the source of government expenditure is from oil, and we have not seen prospects in the oil industry in the near future.
“We will diversify our economy in the area of agriculture and mining. But at the same time, we should understand our situation where some of us (states) today are taking N100 million as monthly allocation and then have salaries of over N2 billion to pay.
“We, therefore, agreed here to take this suggestion to NEC in our meeting today (yesterday) so that we can find ways to tackle this problem.
“We are also looking at coming together to have discussions with Mr. President and his team, technocrats and experts in the economy to see how we can tackle this problem. We are working harder to deal with it.
In their reaction, leaders of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, warned that if the governors wanted workers to shut down the nation because of the issue, workers would gladly do so, saying “the governors should not think the Nigerian workers do not have the capacity to retrench them.”
Factional President of NLC, Mr. Ayuba Wabba, said:
“We reject it totally. Nigerian workers will never accept it. We all know that it is a reality that N18,000 can no longer take the workers home and cannot sustain any family. Many countries are reviewing their minimum wage upwards to meet the current realities. In Nigeria, there is even greater need to increase the minimum wage because our currency had been devalued; inflation keeps rising among others.
“What is the relation of the Nigerian currency to the Dollar or what is value of the N18,000 to the Dollar? We are going to reject the move with all our might. We are not the cause of the problem. They should think out of the box to find solution to the problem. When there was excess crude money, the workers did not benefit and so, we cannot bear the brunt. If the governors want us to close down the country, we will do that.
“What about their outrageous salaries, bloated overhead cost, inflated contracts and others? NLC is meeting tomorrow (today) on the organ of the Central Working Committee, CWC. This issue is going to feature prominently and we are going to come with a strong statement on it. Obviously we cannot bear the brunt. They governors should think how to generate revenue instead of depending on oil money and allocation from Abuja.
“The governors should know that the N18,000 minimum wage was not just negotiated, it was a product of a tripartite process involving the governors, employers and organised labour. It passed through the National Assembly before former President Jonathan signed it into law. If any party wants to breach or renege on such agreement, they should be prepared for the consequences.
“We know there are challenges, but the governors should face reality. The problem is the cost of governance and too many frivolities. Today, with crazy bills from electricity providers, increase in fuel price, school fees, hospital bills, and other utilities, N18,000 cannot take any worker to the bus stop. We want to know their salaries as approved by the Revenue and Fiscal Mobilisation Commission, that of their commissioners, advisers and others, their security votes and others.

NEWS: TERROR - BOKO HARAM RANKED AHEAD OF ISIS AS DEADLIEST GROUP
As much of the world remains focused on the Islamic State and its horrific attacks in Paris, another radical band of extremists has, by one account, captured the infamous title of the world’s deadliest terrorist group: Boko Haram.
Boko Haram, the militant group that has tortured Nigeria and its neighbors for years, was responsible for 6,664 deaths last year, more than any other terrorist group in the world, including the Islamic State, which killed 6,073 people in 2014, according to a report released Wednesday tracking terrorist attacks globally.
The death toll in Nigeria mounted on Wednesday, with a bombing in Kano State in northern Nigeria, not even a full day after Boko Haram was suspected in an explosion that killed and injured dozens in another nearby region.
In Kano, the authorities said that two female suicide bombers detonated vests at a cellphone market at about 4 p.m., killing at least 12 people and wounding dozens. Witnesses and Red Cross officials said that as many as 50 or 60 people died, though the number could not be independently confirmed. Officials accused Boko Haram in the attacks.
In a statement Wednesday, President Muhammadu Buhari called for Nigerians to stay vigilant, saying that even his recently intensified military operation against Boko Haram could not prevent every attack.
“President Buhari reassures Nigerians that his administration is very much determined to wipe out Boko Haram in Nigeria and bring all perpetrators of these heinous crimes against humanity to justice,” the release said.
Pres. Buhari, who took office in May, ran on a platform of eliminating Boko Haram, which he has pledged to do by the end of December, as well as cutting back on corruption that has dogged the nation.
This week, Pres. Buhari accused the previous administration’s national security adviser, Sambo Dasuki, of pocketing more than $2 billion that had been allocated for warplanes, helicopters and other military gear to fight Boko Haram. Mr. Dasuki has denied the allegations.
Pres. Buhari has announced recent victories against Boko Haram, including seizing bomb-making materials and winning battles in the forest.
But still the bombings have come at a rapid clip in recent weeks, bringing death to a food market in Kano, areas of Niger and Cameroon and a village in Chad, prompting officials to call a state of emergency there.
Boko Haram has pledged its allegiance to the Islamic State, but it is unclear what support the group is giving Boko Haram beyond assisting with publicity.
The report released Wednesday, from the Institute of Economics & Peace, said the Islamic State and Boko Haram were responsible for half of all global deaths attributed to terrorism.
Last year, the deaths attributed to Boko Haram alone increased by more than 300 percent, the report said.
The report found a drastic increase in terrorist attacks last year, with the majority occurring in three countries: Iraq, Syria and Nigeria, where other militant groups besides Boko Haram operate.
“In Nigeria, private citizens are overwhelmingly targeted, most often with firearms resulting in very high levels of deaths per attack,” according to the report.
Security experts, regional authorities and Western military officials have credited Pres. Buhari’s renewed push against Boko Haram for scattering the group, which gained notoriety in the United States when it kidnapped scores of schoolgirls and seized entire towns in northern Nigeria.
They say the string of recent attacks on various public places is evidence that the group is grasping to gain real ground and is no longer as capable of holding territory. Still, attacks in crowded spots like schools and markets, long a staple of Boko Haram’s mayhem, can be extremely deadly.
This is the third year the economics and peace institute has released its Global Terrorism Index, a study of terrorist activity around the world. The index is based on data collected as part of a program run by the University of Maryland dedicated to the study of terrorism around the world.
In Cameroon, the report said Boko Haram had expanded its reach into the country with bombings.

FOOTBALL:FIFA - Fifa hits back at financial criticism as regards transparency
The world football governing body has defended itself against criticism of the lack of availability of monetary information relating to its 209 member associations
Fifa has promised to strengthen its member associations' financial governance and management following criticisms in a damning report by anti-corruption group Transparency International.
The report slammed the lack of availability of financial records from Fifa's 209 member associations, which it claims received more than $1million each in 2014.
According to Transparency International, 81 per cent of FAs have no financial records publicly available, and 85 per cent publish no activity accounts of what they do.
Cobus de Swardt, managing director of Transparency International, said: "The risk of corruption at too many football associations around the world is high. This problem is made worse by the lack of information such as audited financial statements by many associations.
"Fifa needs to enforce better governance on its members as well as on itself. The good that football can do is tarnished when corruption is allowed to flourish.
"Any incoming president of Fifa must make it a priority to create more accountable governance throughout the organisations from the bottom, as well as from the top."

FOOTBALL: GOODNEWS FOR CHELSEA - COURTOIS RETURNS TO TRAINING
The lanky Belgian, who has played only three times in the league this season, is recovering from a knee ligament injury suffered in September and has returned to group training.
Thibaut Courtois has trained with the Chelsea first-team squad as he steps up his rehabilitation from a knee injury.
The Belgium international had surgery on ligament damage in September and has not played a game since, with manager Jose Mourinho stating he was unlikely to return until December.
Courtois' recovery appears to be on track after the Premier League champions confirmed he completed a session with the squad earlier on Thursday.
"Thibaut Courtois is back training with the group as part of his ongoing rehab," the club posted on Twitter.
Courtois has only played three times in Chelsea's dreadful title defence so far this season, with the Blues collecting just 11 points from their opening 12 matches.

NEWS NIGERIA: TERRORISM FIGHT - UPDATE OF THE OFFICIAL STATEMENT BY THE NIGERIAN ARMY REFUTING CLAIMS OF LOSING 105 SOLDIERS
The Nigerian Army has released a statement explaining what transpired in Gudumbali, Borno state on Wednesday November 18th where 105 soldiers were said to have gone missing after a gun battle with Boko haram members. The statement which is signed by Tukur Ismail Gusau, the Media Coordinator Operation Lafiya Dole, states that the claim is far from true.
OFFICIAL STATEMENT
The attention of the Theatre Command Headquarters Maiduguri has been drawn to various releases on social media on the operation at Gudumbali , northern Borno State. Most of the publications are not only fictions but imagination of the writers that have no iota of knowledge on military operation. Unfortunately, this is coming at a time when the military has created several avenues for them to get first hand information on our activities. In the quest to be on the same footing with each Nigerian, Media centre was established in the North East. Additional to this is the open door policy of the leadership style of our chief of Army Staff Lt Gen TY Buratai where he carries throughout his operational engagements media personalities. For the records Gulumba was captured by own troops on 10 November 2015 and our troops deployed to secure and weed off Boko Haram terrorists. The location was attacked yesterday morning which resulted in fiarce battle till afternoon. Troops went for pursuit after which they mop and reorganise. The unit suffered some injuries and casualties and equally killed several insurgents. The Nigerian Army has nothing to hide but we call all patriots to support these troops that are courageously fighting for peace and security of our nation. The Theatre Command wishes to state that the story is far from the truth and misrepresentation of facts. In fact, it smacks of the imagination of those symphatetic to Boko Haram terrorists. The Theatre Commander Operation LAFIYA DOLE has addressed the issue and gave journalists the opportunity to ask questions and clarify doubts about the Gudumbali incidence and yet, the medium is yet to reflect the true situation. It should be stated here that, although the unit suffered some casualties, what the medium was reporting was grossly exaggrated for reasons best known to them. The number of casualty and equipment lost as being circulated is not correct, the situation was unnecesserily blowned beyond proportion to give terrorists the type of propaganda they desired. The affected personnel sustained only minor injuries, not gun shot wounds. You are please requested to disseminate this information to the general public. Thanks for your continous support.
Colonel Tukur Ismail Gusau Media Coordinator Operation LAFIYA DOLE

NEWS NIGERIA: TERRORISM - Nigeria Air Force Destroys Several Boko Haram Facilities
The Nigerian Air Force claimed responsibility for the destruction of a Boko Haram vehicle workshop and a weapon storage factory located in the Boko Haram stronghold of the Sambisa forest.
Speaking to the press in Maiduguri the Air Component Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Commodore Isiaka Amao, claimed that his command undertook 40 missions with an 80% success rate.
He noted that these missions caused the destruction of two militant camps and a motor workshop, as well as the general degradation of the logistical ability of Boko Haram. The Commodore also assured the press that the missions would not end until Boko Haram’s capacity was fully degraded.
In addition, the Commodore Amao claimed successful missions in the towns of Kunshe, Mafa, Ngala, Geidam, Gamboru, Kirenowa, and Banki. The Commodore did note one casualty, “On a sad note we lost a colleague, Flight Lt. Ebitimi Owei, and a platform during one of the missions. May his gentle soul rest in peace,”he said.
However, Commodore Amao stressed that the loss of Flight Lt. Owei would not hurt the morale of his officers or deter their mission.

NEWS ISRAEL: Palestinian attacks in Israel and West Bank kill five
Five people have been killed in two attacks in Israel and the occupied West Bank, officials say.
In the first attack, two Israelis were stabbed to death by a Palestinian man at the entrance of a shop that serves as a synagogue in the city of Tel Aviv.
Later, a third Israeli, a Jewish American and a Palestinian were killed in an attack near a Jewish settlement.
A wave of violence over the past two months has claimed the lives of 15 Israelis and dozens of Palestinians.
Many of the Palestinian fatalities were knife-wielding attackers of Israelis, shot by their victims or security forces. Others have been killed in clashes with troops in the West Bank or in cross-border violence in Gaza.
Thursday's first attack took place in a busy commercial building on Ben Tzvi road in southern Tel Aviv.
Witness Shimon Vaknin told the Jerusalem Post newspaper that the afternoon prayer service had just begun at the shop when a man attacked a number of worshippers.

FOOTBALL: UNITY - French National Anthem (La Marseillaise) to be played before English Premier League games
La Marseillaise - The French national anthem, will be heard at all 10 top-flight grounds this weekend as a tribute to the 129 people that died in the Paris terror attacksThe Premier League has confirmed the French national anthem, La Marseillaise, will be played ahead of all English top-flight fixtures this weekend in tribute to the 129 people killed during the Paris terror attacks.
The "act of remembrance and solidarity" follows England fans joining their French counterparts in a stirring rendition of the anthem before Tuesday's friendly international at Wembley.
A choral version of La Marseillaise will be played after the pre-kick-off coin toss for every match, at which point players from both teams involved will join match officials in the centre circle facing the ground's main stand.
Premier League executive chairman Richard Scudamore said: "Given how close we are, as well as the long-standing relationship that exists between the Premier League and France, playing La Marseillaise as an act of solidarity and remembrance is the right thing to do.

![]() |
| Nigerian Chief of Army staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai |
Reports making the rounds today had it that Nigerian army lost 105 of their men during fight with Boko Haram.
However Chief of Army staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai has denied the reports.
Buratai is quoted as saying in a telephone conversation with the media thus;
“It is not true that our soldiers are missing. The soldiers went on a mission for the Nigerian nation and they have since returned and joined their Battalions”.
General Buratai said that the insinuation is a figment of imagination of the authors of the story.

FOOTBALL: HOPE FOR MANCHESTER UNITED OUTCAST VICTOR VALDES AS HE CLOSES IN ON ESPANYOL OF SPAIN MOVE.
Victor Valdes’ nightmare spell as a Manchester United outcast is set to end, with the Spanish goalkeeper on the verge of securing a free transfer to Espanyol.
The former Spain international has not played since May after falling out with United manager Louis van Gaal, who claimed that Valdes had refused to play in an Under-21 fixture towards the end of the 2014-15 season.
Valdes has since been forced to train with apprentices, and was recently banned from entering the club’s Carrington grounds when his first-team colleagues were on site.
But now the impasse looks set to end with Valdes in advanced negotiations with Espanyol over a January transfer.
