JAMB delists 72 CBT centres over attempted rape, extortion

Nigeria - The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB has said it delisted about 72 designated CBT centres for engaging in various acts of misconduct during the 2017 Unified Tertiary and Matriculation Examinations held in different parts of the country.

Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, disclosed this at a meeting with CBT owners and operators from the 36 states in Lagos on Wednesday.

Oh dear! How JAMB reportedly made #31bn and remitted #15m to the FG in 5 years

Nigeria - The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) raked in at least N30.726 billion in five years but remitted only about N15 million to the Federal Government, according to Daily Trust.

The amount was generated from the various registration fees for candidates who sat for JAMB’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) from 2011 to 2015.

Nigeria - Following the release of the minimum cut-off mark for 2017/2018 admission into tertiary institutions across the country, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Thursday lashed out at the Federal Government describing the move as “a sad policy decision for the future of Nigeria.”
Reacting to the decision in an interview with newsmen in Ibadan, Chairman ASUU, University of Ibadan, Dr Deji Omole accused the President Muhammadu Buhari led FG of having a dream of destroying Nigeria education.

Nigeria - Federal Government has lifted the ban it, hitherto, placed on the post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (post-UTME) which used to be conducted by individual universities for admissions. 
Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, announced the decision in Abuja yesterday while declaring open the 2017 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) policy meeting which heralds the commencement of the 2017/2018 tertiary admission process.

Nigeria - The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said that all candidates for the 2018 Unified Tertiary Examination (UTME) must register under the lenses of the CCTV Camera.
It also said the footage of registration processes of each candidate must be uploaded to the Board Headquarters.

Nice plans as JAMB set to establish mega centres for UTME



Nigeria - The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has disclosed plan to collaborate with key stakeholders to establish mega centres for the conduct of its Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME.
JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, on Thursday spoke after an on-the-spot assessment of some Computer Based Test centres.

Oh boy! JAMB candidate arrested with gun at Nasarawa examination centre



The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Nasarawa State has arrested a 21-year-old candidate for being in possession of firearms in one of the centres of the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in the state.
The state commandant of the NSCDC, Mr. Bashir Lawal-Kano, told newsmen in Lafia on Thursday that the suspect was arrested at the Nasarawa State Polytechnic centre during a search at the entrance to the hall.

Nigeria - The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has concluded the sale of 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) forms, recording over 1.7 million applications.
The exams will begin on Saturday May 13, 2017.
This is contained in a statement on Sunday by JAMB spokesman, Fabian Benjamin.

Oh dear! Suspects confess: We spent #20m hacking into JAMB website

Nigeria - Some suspects who were allegedly caught while perpetrating certain irregularities in the ongoing registration for the 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations have reportedly confessed to spending over N20m to construct a radio platform with which they hacked into JAMB’s registration portal.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps had arrested no less than five individuals who had deployed fake biometric capturing machines to register applicants, Punch reports.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board ( JAMB) has announced the extension of registration for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) by two weeks.
The examination body also postponed the UTME exam till 13th and 20th of May.

UTME registration suspended from April 7-10, mock exam holds today April 8th



Nigeria - The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has suspended registration as from 7-10 of April.
JAMB, however, assured Nigerians especially the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) candidates and their parents that all hands are on deck to ensure the smooth conduct of this year’s UTME exercise.
