Tragedy as church shooting after a funeral leaves at least two dead and multiple people injured in Florida

Two people have been killed and two others injured in a shooting that took place after a funeral at a Florida church on Saturday, January 1.

A Florida man shot and killed his son-in-law after the victim who had flew in from Norway to the US jumped out of the bushes to surprise him for his birthday.


61-year-old Richard Dennis opened fire on Christopher Bergan, 37, outside his house in Pensacola on Tuesday night (Oct.1) in what police described as a 'horrible accident'.

Tragedy as 17 killed in Florida school shooting

At least 17 persons were killed at  a Florida high school on Wednesday, after a gunman opened fire, leaving terrified students huddled in their classrooms, texting friends and family for help.

Search-and-rescue teams made their way into the Florida Keys' farthest reaches Tuesday, while federal officials estimated one-quarter of all homes in the Keys were destroyed.

Two days after Irma roared into the island chain with 130 mph winds, residents were allowed to return to the parts of the Keys closest to Florida's mainland. But the full extent of the death and destruction there remained a question mark because communications and access were cut off in places.

Irma trained its sights on Florida and officials warned more than 5 million people that time was running out Friday to evacuate ahead of the deadly hurricane as it followed a path that could take it from one end of the state to the other.

By early evening, Irma was a slightly weakened Category 4 storm with winds of 250 kph and forecasters said it could be back up to Category 5 when it comes ashore near Key West on Sunday morning.

The police in Florida  have blamed  Venus Williams, for the two-car crash  on June 9 that eventually killed a passenger in the other vehicle.
News of the fatal wreck near Williams’ home in Palm Beach Gardens surfaced in media accounts on Thursday, days before the 37-year-old tennis star play in Wimbledon next week.

A teenager has fought off a shark attack by punching the animal in the face after it grabbed her leg while she was swimming.
Caitlyn Taylor was attacked in the Gulf Of Mexico near the town of Destin in Florida's Panhandle.
Witnesses said the 17-year-old, from Louisville in Kentucky, was bitten by a shark about 5ft in length in waist-deep water.

So sad! Missing Canadian film-maker's body found in Florida

The body of a Canadian film-maker who disappeared off the coast of Florida has reportedly been found.
Shortly after announcing that it would be suspending its search, the US Coast Guard tweeted that a body had been found at a depth of 220ft.
The 37-year-old from Toronto was known for his 2006 documentary Sharkwater.

People searching for a missing shark documentary director have appealed for help from "anyone who has access to planes, helicopters, drones or boats".
The post on Facebook adds that they need "anything with night vision capabilities".
Rob Stewart, who directed and narrated Sharkwater, released in 2006, was working on a sequel off the coast of Florida when he disappeared after a deepwater dive to retrieve an anchor.

US authorities have charged the Iraq war vet accused of shooting five people dead and wounding six at a Florida airport with federal crimes that could carry the death penalty.
The Justice Department on Saturday charged Esteban Santiago, 26, with firearms offenses and carrying out an act of violence when he opened fire at the busy Fort Lauderdale airport.
