Alas! ‘Pay Choc City boss, Audu Maikori, N40m for illegal arrest, detention’ – Court orders El-rufai, Police

Nigeria - Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State and the Nigerian Police Force were on Friday ordered to pay a N40m compensation to the President of Chocolate City Group, Audu Maikori over his unlawful arrest and detention between February 17 and 18 2017 and March 10, and 13, 2017.

Justice John Tsoho of the Federal High Court gave the judgement while ruling in the fundamental human rights enforcement suit filed by Maikori on May 5, 2017.

Nigeria - Chocolate City boss, Audu Maikori has sued Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai for gross violation of his human rights.

In a suit (FHC/ABJ/CS/385/17) filed by his lawyers, Ballason’s Chambers at the Federal High Court, Abuja, Maikori is seeking damages to the tune of N10billion.

Nigeria - The Chief Executive Officer, Chocolate City Records,  Audu Maikori, who was rearrested in Abuja is currently being held at the Gabasawa Police Station, Kaduna State and allegedly sharing the same cell with arrested herdsmen.

A source at the police station said that Maikori, who was arrested on Friday, would have been charged to court immediately but the police deliberately refused to commence the prosecution process, Punch reports.

Nigeria - After being in the Department of State Services (DSS), detention for almost 24 hours, Chocolate City founder, Audu Maikori, has been released by the department.

This was confirmed by his personal assistant, Edward Israel-Ayide, via his Twitter page, where he wrote: “Thanks everyone for#FreeAudu He’s been released.”

The Nigerian Police has arrested lawyer. founder and president of Chocolate City Group Audu Maikori, his lawyer Mark Jacobs and Chocolate City’s chief executive officer and recording artist Jude ‘MI’ Abaga confirmed on Friday.

Maikori was allegedly arrested over ‘inciting comments’ he made on social media on Southern Kaduna killings. In a series of tweets on January 23, he alleged that five students of Kaduna State College of Education, Gidan Waya, Kafanchan, were murdered by Fulani herdsmen.
