Makarfi group says they are not involved in registration of Advanced PDP (APDP)

Nigeria - The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Ahmed Makarfi has said that it had no hands in the bid for the registration of another party called Advanced Peoples Democratic Party (APDP).

Its spokesman, Dayo Adeyeye, said yesterday that the National Caretaker Committee of the PDP wishes to deny in its entirety, the news item, which went viral last Thursday that the committee or any of its members as individuals, are leading a plan to abandon the party structure for the Senator Ali Modu-Sheriff led group and seek registration of a new party to be called Advanced Peoples Democratic Party (APDP).

PDP Sheriff camp in disarray as Makarfi and others plan to form APDP

Nigeria - There is tension in the air in the Ali Modu Sheriff camp of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following the submission of an application to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the registration of a party named Advanced Peoples Democratic Party.

The commission yesterday confirmed receipt of the application believed to have come from supporters of Senator Ahmed Makarfi,Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of the PDP.
