Gernot Rohr, the former coach of the Nigerian national football team, recently shared an interesting story during an interview with the Bayern Munich media team on the occasion of his 70th birthday.
Rohr served as the head coach of the Super Eagles from 2016 to 2021, making him one of the team's longest-serving coaches.
Rohr recounted a situation where he had to make a difficult decision that involved his job.
It involved Sunday Dare, the former Minister of Sports in Nigeria. According to Rohr, Dare unexpectedly showed up at one of their training sessions with around 40 or 50 journalists and expressed his desire to participate in the training.
Rohr's assistant warned him that if they didn't allow the minister to join the training, they could all lose their jobs. Faced with this difficult choice, Rohr decided to let the minister train with the team, complying with the assistant's advice and considering the potential consequences.
