Nemesis as court jails job scammer 10 years for N1.8m fraud

Nigeria - The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Sokoto Zonal Office yesterday secured the conviction of one Freedom Inah at the Sokoto High Court presided over Justice M.S. Sifawa on a one-count charge bordering on cheating to the tune of N1,830,250.


Sifawa, who is the state’s chief judge, found Inah guilty of the offence committed sometime last year while acting as travel agent of Gulf Centre International Travel and Tourism, United Arab Emirate (UAE) and Top Valley Speciality Hospital UAE in cahoots with Nwabueze Uzochukwu Joseph and Peter Ike (now at large) within the Sokoto judicial division.
He was convicted of dishonestly inducing one Ahmed Jelani to pay the sum of N1,435,250 into three different accounts including N395,000 into an account in a new generation bank by deceiving him with an offer of appointment into the hospitality contrary to Section 310 of the Sokoto State Penal Code Law 2019 and punishable under Section 311 of the same law.”
