Nigeria - Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo, sitting at Lagos High Court in Igbosere has dismissed an application by billionaire kidnap kingpin Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike alias "Evans" seeking to quash the charges of kidnapping, murder and illegal possession of firearms filed against him by the Lagos State government.

The court also rejected Evan’s contention that the court has no jurisdiction to try him.
Justice Taiwo ruled that there is a prima facie case against Evans and second defendant Victor Nonso Aduba. She described the application as misconceived and lacking in merit.
The ruling also held that the proof of evidence filed by the state in support of the charges has sufficient materials worth pursuing by the prosecuting counsel.
Justice Taiwo held: “I have read the proof of evidence. The court is the view of this court that there is sufficient reason to proceed. I find that this court has jurisdiction to try the charges. This application is subsequently dismissed.”
The case was still ongoing as at the time of filing this report.
