Barcelona remain hopeful of signing Coutinho and are ready to pay around £148m to bring him to the Nou Camp.
And, even if a deal doesn’t make it over the line before 11pm, Barcelona could do a deal friday with the Spanish window open until midnight on Friday.
That puts Barca under less pressure to find an agreement with Liverpool over the next couple of hours.
It was reported yesterday that Barcelona did already have an agreement and were preparing for an unveiling at 7pm.
That time has now passed without the move being confirmed, however Spanish clubs have until midnight to complete deals.
Coutinho, meanwhile, scored a wonder goal for Brazil in their World Cup qualifier against Ecuador.
The latest reports suggest Coutinho is growing anxious and fears Liverpool will renege on a deal.
Coutinho believed he would get his transfer but it is now in some doubt.
Duncan Castles, for Yahoo Sport, wrote: “Barcelona entered the final week of the window believing they had finally struck an agreement with Liverpool to sign Coutinho for a potential fee of €160m.
“The Brazil international was informed that the transfer would be concluded once the English club had managed to deploy some of that club-record fee to secure a replacement.
“Although Liverpool have subsequently signed Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal and had an offer of €80m rejected by Monaco for France international Thomas Lemar, Coutinho’s representatives are now said to be ‘extremely anxious’ that the Anfield club will force their player to remain on Merseyside against his will.
“‘Liverpool are not respecting the agreement they made,’ said a source familiar with negotiations.”
Coutinho submitted a transfer request by email earlier this summer after Liverpool rejected Barca’s second bid, worth £90m.
Since then Barca have also seen a £118m bid rejected and Liverpool have maintained he will not be sold.
Coutinho is yet to play for Liverpool this season with Jurgen Klopp insisting he is injured but he looked in good shape during Brazil training.
Owners FSG have been vocal in their desire to keep him at Anfield.
But that stance has softened and a move has appeared more likely in the last few days, but with just hours or the English window remaining nothing has been made official.
