Friesland Campina WAMCO on fire earlier but safely controlled in Lagos

Nigeria - The condensed factory of FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc in Ogba Industrial Estate, Ikeja, Lagos, was razed by fire on Friday.
However, the fire was promptly put out by Lagos State Fire Service supported by the company safety team and neighbours.

No casualty was recorded in the incident.
The company’s Corporate Affairs Director, Mrs. Ore Famurewa, in a statement said “the fire outbreak, which occurred at 1:10 p.m. was contained by 1:55 p.m. The fire was caused by electrical malfunction in the conveyor section.”
“We commend our employees for showing high commitment and safety leadership in organizing themselves during the fire. In all this, FrieslandCampina WAMCO operations were not disrupted by the incident. As always, we ensure the safety and security of our employees as high priority.”

She thanked the Lagos State Fire Service, FrieslandCampina WAMCO Safety Team, the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) fire team and other corporate organisations like Guinness Nigeria Plc for their rapid response to the emergency situation.
“We thank all our stakeholders for their show of concern,” Famurewa said, adding that as the leading producer of dairy products in Nigeria, FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria was strongly poised to satisfy its teeming consumers.
“As a good corporate citizen, the company assures its stakeholders that it shall continue to manufacture at the highest standards to nourish Nigerians with quality dairy nutrition.”
