Released 21 Chibok schoolgirls reunited with their families

The 21 Nigerian schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram more than two years ago have finally been reunited with their families.
The girls were among more than 200 abducted from their school in the northeastern town of Chibok by the Islamist extremist group.

They were released on Thursday after talks between the Nigerian government and the group which had been brokered by the Red Cross and the Swiss government.
But it has taken days for their parents to arrive in Abuja, braving pot-holed roads, numerous military checkpoints and the risk of being attacked by insurgents.
More than 200 of the girls are still missing despite the efforts of the Nigerians, along with assistance from the US, UK, France, China and Israel.

A total of 276 girls were taken as part of the extremist group's seven-year fight to establish a strict Islamic state in the northeast of the country.
Some 15,000 people are said to have been killed during this time.
At the beginning of last year, the extremists controlled land about the size of Belgium but Nigeria's army, helped by troops from neighbouring countries, have recaptured most of this territory.
