A 42-year-old real estate agent, Babalola Murtala, was on Tuesday docked at a Lagos State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Igbosere for allegedly defrauding a journalist of N700,000 under the pretext of securing a mini flat for him.
Muritala was arraigned before Magistrate J. Ugbomoiko on a three-count charge of stealing, obtaining by false pretence and threat to life preferred against him by the police.
Prosecuting Sergeant Okete Ejione told the court that the defendant committed the offence on August 28 last year at Dosunmu Street, Lagos Island.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The matter was adjourned to January 29.
