NEWS: NIGERIA - PDP drums support for APC government to end Boko Haram insurgency

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has urged Nigerians, irrespective of leanings, to rally round the APC–led government to end Boko Haram insurgency in the North-East.

Chief Olisa Metuh, PDP National Publicity Secretary, gave the advice on Friday in Abuja when he received the executive of an NGO, North Youth Network.
The NGO, led by its President, Mr Mike Msuaan, was on a courtesy visit to the National Publicity Secretary.
Metuh said: “the current insurgency is not against any political party, but against Nigeria and its citizens and as such, demands the collective efforts of all Nigerians to defeat.”
“It is God that joins Nigerians together nobody or organisation has the right to separate them.
“PDP remains supportive of the efforts of the Federal Government to see to the end of the insurgency.’’
The PDP spokesman said that as an opposition party, the PDP would be constructive in its criticism of government prgrammes and actions for the development of the country.
He, however, advised the government to guide against being selective in its programmes to the people, to ensure maximum dividends of democracy to the people.
Metuh reiterated that the commitment of the PDP to remain an open, transparent and responsible political party.
Commenting on the inconclusive governorship election in Bayelsa, the PDP image maker, called on INEC to conclude the poll and similar elections within 30 days.
He said that timely conclusion of the election would give the people more voice to contribute to issues bothering on national development.
Metuh commended the executive and members of the NGO for their commitment to the concept of being positive agent of development and urged them to continue in that light.
Earlier, Msuaan commended Metuh for the matured way he had been handling information management of the PDP.
He described the PDP as the `most constructive party’ in its criticism of the governing party and urged Metuh to continue to be the “voice of the voiceless,’’ to ensure good governance.
The highlight of the visit was the presentation of an award of excellence on Metuh by the NGO.
Members of the NGO, cutting across the 36 states of the federation attended the occasion.
