KABOOM!!! FRSC says Psychiatric test for traffic law offenders must take effect from July 1st

Nigeria - Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Boboye Oyeyemi has retirated that the corp's decision to arrest every traffic law offender and ensure they go for a mental psychiatric test must take full effect from saturday July 1.

Speaking on Friday when he unveiled the 'cobra squad' which was directly under his office, he said 10 patrol bikes, 4 vehicles and 1 ambulance in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have been provided for the squad to commence full implementation and help combat traffic law offences.

Scare as small plane crashes on California freeway

A small plane crash-landed on a freeway in Orange County, California on Friday, seriously injuring two people on board and snarling traffic on a major north-south artery through the area, authorities said.

Television images on local news media showed the wreckage of the plane, a Cessna 310, resting on the San Diego (405) Freeway near John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana, covered in fire-retardant foam and surrounded by police and firefighters.

Military says IED explosion killed four soldiers in Borno State

Nigeria - The Army has confirmed that it lost an officer and three soldiers in Borno on Thursday when their patrol vehicle encountered IED buried on the road between Kangarwa and Alagarno village.

The Army Spokesman, Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman, confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday, while giving an update on troops’ clearance operations in the North-East between Tuesday and Thursday.

The group made the remark while faulting the Presidency over its reason why the Presidential jet was retained in London while Buhari undergoes medical treatment.

Nigeria - The Federal Government says it has released the sum of N420.2 million to the Nigeria film industry popularly called Nollywood to improve and support aspiring practitioners.

According to a statement issued by the Deputy Director of Information, Federal Ministry of Finance, Mrs Patricia Deworitshe, on Friday in Abuja, the money, which is the second tranche payment will benefit 105 film distributors.

The acting Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Ibrahim Magu, has identified corruption as the root cause of separatist agitations and militancy in the country.

Spokesman of the commission, Wilson Uwujaren, said in a statement that Magu made the remarks at the opening session of a two-day Electronic and Social Media Review and Training Conference held at the EFCC Academy in Abuja on Thursday.

Nigeria - A lecturer with the Ogun State College of Health Technology, Ilese Ijebu, Dr. Seyi Adu, has been indefinitely suspended by the college for allegedly having sex with a nursing student of the school, Mosunmola.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the suspension was posted on a notice board at the administration block of the college, where the academic community was asked not to have any dealings with him.
