Nigerian Navy arrests Avengers' strike force leader in Delta State



Nigeria - A suspected serial pipeline vandal and strike force leader of the Niger Delta Avengers has been arrested by the Nigerian Navy in Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.
The suspect, Abraham Suru, also known as Gabon from Ondo State, was arrested weeks after he had been declared wanted by the Nigerian military for being responsible for the incessant attacks on oil and gas facilities within Warri North and South-West LGAs of the state.

Opposition 'minister' among 12 dead in Syria bombing



 A "minister" in Syria's opposition government was among at least 12 people killed in a car bomb attack in the south of the country on Thursday, the body's spokesman said.
The Islamic State group (IS) claimed the attack in a statement on Telegram, saying one of its jihadists had detonated an explosive vest at an opposition meeting.

England - Sixteen people have been arrested after police received reports of migrants in the back of a lorry on the M1.
Hertfordshire Police were called at 2.55pm as the vehicle headed north towards Bedfordshire. The lorry was stopped just past junction 11.

Nigeria - The Lagos State Government says it has recorded six deaths from cholera outbreak out of 45 cases in some communities in Isolo Local Council Development Area.
The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris, who made the disclosure on Thursday at a news conference in Lagos, however, was not specific about the timing of the incident.

Nine hurt, 44 arrested in second night of Charlotte, N.C. protests


US - At least nine people were injured and 44 people were arrested during a second night of violent protests in Charlotte, North Carolina, the city's police chief said on Thursday, following the fatal police shooting of a black man.
One man remained in critical condition after being shot late Wednesday, said Kerr Putney, the chief of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg police. Police used tear gas, rubber bullets and flash-bang grenades to disperse demonstrators who looted stores and threw rocks, bottles and fireworks.
